SLOs, Staff Meeting and All School Meeting

Certified Staff,

As you submit your professional goal setting plan, I have set aside the next two Day 6s for SLO meetings (11/2 and 11/10). Teachers who are on cycle for evaluation this year, please set up a 15 minute meeting (through Sue) to review your professional goal setting plan. Classroom teachers, try to utilize the Day 6 common planning time above, and nonclassroom teachers you can schedule whenever we are both available over the next two weeks. Teachers not on cycle for evaluation, may choose to have your goal reviewed by me electronically without a face to face meeting.

Our Tuesday staff meeting will be held in the 118 computer lab. Kelli will begin with some tech tips followed by staff completing the online PBIS Self Assessment Survey (SAS).  As a building, we've taken this survey in the past to get a pulse on where we are with our Tier I implementation. Tomorrow Chris will be sending you an email with the link to the survey and some reminders on how complete it. I'm setting staff meeting time aside, so you won't have to complete it on your own time. Please log into a computer at the beginning of the staff meeting so you'll be ready to take the survey after Kelli is done.

Finally on Friday we'll have our November All School Meeting at 2:50pm. Dr. Zach McCabe, who's involved with the Chiropractic Society of Wisconsin, will be speaking to our students for about 15-20 minutes regarding proper posture while using backpacks and tech devices. This is in conjunction with the second annual Chiro-Kids Day which was October 27th.

October 24th

NH Certified Staff and Elementary LMS,

I hope you had a well deserved and restful day off on Friday after the completion of your conferences. Below I have linked resources which may be helpful as you work through creating your SLOs for the 2016-2017 school year.

The first document is the same one I shared last week. It is a step by step guide, personalized by our district, to assist you in completing your SLO and PPG. It references the revised mylearningplan documents for this year:  SLO Goal Setting and Review. Embedded in this document is also the a DPI document walking you through the SLO process DPI's Student/School Learning Objectives Guidebook.

The last couple of years building principals have also provided a sample SLO to support your work. Again this year, many of you may want to focus your efforts around the content area of reading to align your work with our PLC and SMARTgoal actions. Here's a link to this Sample Reading SLO.

The last link is the Google presentation I will be working from during our staff meeting from 8:05-9:00 in the media center October 24th PD for those of you who want to preview it or come back to it later. Prior to the meeting, please pull up on your computer (or print a hard copy) both your professional goal setting plan and review (from 15-16) so you don't have wireless issues accessing it later.

Finally 3rd-5th grade teachers, tomorrow during our roll throughs, we will begin with students you have concerns with socially or emotionally. Time will be set aside for each classroom teacher to spend five minutes discussing these concerns.

    Drills and Data

    Staff,

The weather on Monday looks wonderful, so be prepared for a fire drill around 9:10am, after first grade leaves on their field trip. This will fulfill our October requirement.

Today the assessment window was finalized in Skyward allowing you to begin to import your instructional reading level updates through the end of the school day on Friday, October 14th. For the 16-17 school year, below is a screen shot showing what the test score headings will look like within Skyward. The October 12th window is actually listed as 09/01/2016

Here is the video link I sent out last year to assist you with importing your instructional reading data into Skyward. However remember the test score headings are different this year, as well as some of the deadlines for your data updates. Here is also the assessment calendar for your reference. This data will be used to assist us with our first round of progress monitoring, and your SLO development.

If you have already entered your data for October, you will need to re-enter the scores after Skyward has been updated.  Sue or I can assist in doing this for you.

    Staff,

During September we completed out PBIS kickoff reviewing above the line behaviors in all settings. This week we will begin utilizing minor communication forms to reteach minor behaviors. Please turn these forms into Jody so she can enter them into our SWIS database. A reminder to fill out an office discipline form when a student has received three reteaching forms in the month for the same behavior. On the news I will be showing our minor behavior form cool tool, and clipboards with minor forms will be set out by our PBIS posters.

At our staff meeting on Tuesday, we will be talking about your core instruction as it relates to PLC work and SLOS, supporting tier II intervention fidelity, the change in the SLO language for this year and our soon to be released school report card. Below I have inserted last year's SLO language (left) and this year's language (right) so you have time to process the changes before Tuesday. The first table is for teachers in mylearningplan and the second one is for specialists. On Friday we will have our second All School Meeting starting at 2:50pm.
